STRENGTH
Rosa Louise McCauley Parks (February 4, 1913 - October 24, 2005) was an activist in the civil rights movement, playing a pivotal role in the Montgomery bus boycott. She said, “I would like to be known as a person who is concerned about freedom and equality and justice and prosperity for all people.” Today she is known as the mother of the Civil Rights Movement. Her non-violent resistance set off a series of events that changed the world. Speaking of her refusal to move to the back of the bus because of the color of her skin, she said, “When I made that decision I knew that I had the strength of my ancestors with me." May she become the ancestor of us all.
